Discover the Joy of Music With Guitar Lessons for Seniors

At Quarter Bend Guitar Studio, we believe it’s never too late to learn how to play guitar. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or looking to brush up your skills, our guitar lessons for seniors are designed to meet your unique needs. We guarantee progress with every lesson, offering an immersive learning environment that boosts your skills and confidence.

Did you know that learning an instrument is one of the top five most common retirement goals. A lot of the senior students we serve come in thinking it’s too late for them to learn but that’s just not true! In fact, research continues to suggest that while brain functions tend to deteriorate as we age, the effects aging has on the brain can slow and even be prevented. We know that an 80-year-old has the same capacity for learning and forming new brain connections that a teenager does… so there’s no excuse to not start guitar today! So why wait? Get in touch with us today and start your musical journey.

It's Never Too Late to Learn Guitar

At QBGS, we give you flexible goals to allow time for life and family, as well as the knowledge to prevent possible injuries or aching joint flare-ups. Our focus is on skill development with a cooperative curriculum. You’ll also enjoy the opportunity to meet other like-minded folks in our jam sessions, open mics, hangouts, and workshops. Contact us today to learn more. Ask about our veteran discounts!

Why Do Seniors Have More Fun In Guitar Lessons?

Believe it or not, our adult students of ALL ages make a ton of progress and have a blast doing it. Some of the reasons why adults at an advantage when starting guitar is because they have…

  • more realistic expectations than kids and teens
  • more control over their schedule
  • many life experiences that (with a trained teacher) can be transferred the guitar
  • access to transportation, making it easier to hook up for low-pressure jam sessions with friends
  • deeper connections to music (more life experiences tied to music) which drives the passion further
  • more disposable income for better gear
  • a clear idea of what they like and what they don’t
  • can afford high quality lessons for faster improvement
  • the joy of passing on the love of music to a younger generation

Are you ready to take advantage of your years of experience and learn a new skill?!?

What Makes QBGS Different for Adults and Seniors?

We understand that while our retired population has the same potential as our young adults and kids, their circumstances are different. Our seniors benefit from flexible goals that allow for “life and family” events to come up while still offering accountability to ensure progress.

Our flexible scheduling allows you to set your weekly time, but also allows for schedule-yourself make-up lessons. This way you can still make it to the grandkid’s baseball game AND still get your guitar lessons in… on YOUR time.

The biggest thing that sets QBGS apart from other guitar lessons in Lancaster is the community environment. Our students enjoy the opportunity to meet other like-minded folks at our jam sessions, open mics, hangouts, workshops, etc.

Everyone’s body is different, and as we age, those differences become more pronounced. Aching joints and old injuries from a life well lived can sometimes feel like a big obstacle. Our teachers are the only guitar instructors in town who actually know how to work with your body to prevent injuries and flare-ups while you make progress on the guitar.

Getting good at guitar is a lot like planning for retirement. The best time to start was probably when you were younger, but the second best time is NOW! Plan to make small and consistent deposits, and see the big picture rather than the day-to-day fluctuations.

Whether you want to play folk music, join the worship team at church, or play rock guitar solos there is a place for you at QBGS. Our cooperative curriculum focuses on skill development and puts you in control of the song you learn.

A lot of our retired students came in telling us “the only thing I can play is the radio…” or “I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.” You may think you’re behind, but we can get you where you want to be.

We love all kinds of students, but really have a passion for exposing new adult musicians to guitar. We understand all of the subtle pieces that life-long musicians take for granted and can help you bridge that beginner gap with patience, confidence, and fun!
